At low temperatures below 100 K, we observed two band-edge PL peaks and a broad PL band in strongly photoexcited SrTiO3 and this website electron-doped SrTiO3 samples. In electron-doped samples, the peak energy of the broad PL band depends on the excitation photon energy at low temperatures: it changes from 2.5 to
2.9 eV with the excitation photon energy. On the other hand, the PL dynamics is independent of the excitation photon energy and is explained by a simple model involving single-carrier trapping and Auger recombination. From the PL spectrum and dynamics under different excitation photon energies, the PL processes in SrTiO3 are discussed. (C) 2011 American Institute of Physics. [doi :10.1063/1.3577613]“
“Corynebacterium glutamicum is a nonpathogenic, GC-rich, Gram-positive bacterium with a long history in the industrial production of amino acids. Recently, the species has become of increasing interest as a model bacterium for closely related, medically important pathogenic species such as Corynebacterium diphtheriae and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. In this article, recent advances in understanding of the C. glutamicum
regulatory network of genes involved in carbohydrate metabolism are reviewed with regards to sugar uptake, glycolysis and lactate production.”
“Polyols derived from renewable resources are good candidates for obtaining segmented polyurethane (PU) elastomers. Diisocyanates with different chemical structures, aliphatic and aromatic, were used to synthesize PU elastomers with different hard-segment (HS) contents by a two-step polymerization procedure. Microphase IPI-145 separation and thermal stability were studied with attenuated total reflection Fourier Proteasomal inhibitor transform infrared spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and thermogravimetric analysis.
The analysis of H-bonded and non-H-bonded urethane carbonyl stretching vibration in the amide I region, the glass-transition temperatures of the soft segments and HSs, and the melting temperature and enthalpies of the HSs revealed that aliphatic diisocyanate based PUs presented a higher phase separation degree and higher HS crystallinity and also a superior thermal stability to the aromatic diisocyanate-based PUs. The aromatic diisocyanate-based PU presented a higher ductility, higher tensile strength, and lower modulus than aliphatic diisocyanate-based PU for the same HS content because of the different morphology that they presented. “Periodic multilayer thin-film color filters (CFs) entirely made of nano-porous indium-tin-oxide (ITO) with tunable refractive index are explored. The interference CFs are electrically conductive and transmit light in the pass-band spectral region without absorbing light outside of the pass-band region.
